Behavioral Training

If your dog struggles with anxiety, fear of grooming, or challenges with other dogs, our behavioral training focuses on tackling these issues in a calm, manageable way. We’ll help you address anxiety and stress by providing techniques to reduce fear and build confidence. If your dog has trouble with socializing or reacts negatively to new situations, we work at their pace to desensitize them and teach calm responses. We also help with resource guarding (like food or toys), reactivity, and big feelings like over-excitement or frustration, using proven methods to ensure your dog learns positive behaviors that last. Our training helps your dog relax, decompress, and handle the world around them more comfortably, making everyday life more enjoyable for everyone.

Obedience Training

In addition to behavioral training, we also focus on improving your dog’s obedience. This includes teaching basic manners at home and in public spaces, recall (coming when called), walking calmly on a leash, and improving your dog’s overall behavior. Whether it’s teaching your dog to stay calm in new environments or reinforcing good behavior during daily walks, we provide the tools and strategies needed to create lasting, positive changes.

How Private Training Works

Initial Remote Consultation

ALL private training services, whether behavioral or obedience-focused, require an initial remote consultation. This 2-hour session with certified trainer Alex Hawk includes:

• A full assessment of your dog's behavior and areas to work on

• A tailored management, enrichment, and training plan

• Insight into how dogs think, learn, and communicate

• Helpful resources such as training handouts, Amazon equipment lists, and more

• Video Library Resource

• Membership to AHDT Community and events

We offer training in three flexible ways after the consultation along with monthly packages.

AH Dog Training is currently accepting new remote clients worldwide and in-person clients in the South County area only. If you are seeking in-person training services and are located outside of South County, Rhode Island, please contact us directly.
